Our Founding Story
Kym and her daughter, Elizabeth, were both born and raised in California. Kym had never moved from Central California until her husband got a job in Columbus, prompting their first cross-country move. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was living on the central coast and decided to relocate about a year and a half later.
Kym worked as a barista for eight years, and Elizabeth often accompanied her to work, helping with tasks like wiping down tables and taking orders. When it was time to join the workforce, Elizabeth naturally gravitated toward coffee. Despite working various food service and retail jobs, she always returned to coffee, drawn by the people and the relationships it fosters. She appreciated coffee shops as unique, non-alcoholic gathering places where people could socialize over a beverage.
Though they had never thought opening their own shop was possible, both Kym and Elizabeth had always dreamed of doing so. Ohio presented many more opportunities, and they decided to pursue this dream together. The journey of opening Coastline Coffee has been a significant learning curve, but every day they are grateful for the support and patience of their amazing customer base and staff as they grow through this new endeavor.
Elizabeth's personal end goal is to establish many Coastline Coffee locations throughout the United States, with a more immediate goal of starting a traveling Coastline in the form of a coffee cart.
